Shoo Fly Pie

2 cups sugar
4 cups flour
2 sticks butter
2 cups boiling water
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup dark karo
2 tsp baking soda
Mix sugar, flour, and butter
together. Set one cup aside. Mix molasses, baking soda, and water and one cup of the crumbs mixture together. Put remainder
of the crumb mixture in bottom of pie pan and pour in the molasses mixture. Bake at 350◦ for about 30 or 40 minutes or until golden
brown on top.
This is a traditional Pennsylvania
Dutch dish. It is unusual and good.
I would serve with ice cream
or whipped cream.
