Yankee Hard Sauce
1/2 cup butter 1 cup sugar 1 cup water 2 tbsp cornstarch 1 tsp vinegar 1 1/2 tsp vanilla Mix and cook all but vanilla. When sauce is thick add vanilla. Serve warm on bread or carrot type puddings. Also good poured over pound, yellow or white cake.
