1/2 cup sugar

1 tbsp cornstarch

dash salt

dash nutmeg

1 cup water

2 tbsp butter

11/2 tbsp lemon juice

 

Mix all but lemon juice and boil to thicken. Add lemon juice. Cool and use on bread pudding or other desserts.

 

Option: substitute orange juice for the lemon juice.
