Boil
in large pan covered for 15 minutes:
2 cups
each sugar, raisins, water
1 cup
oil, shortening, or lard.
Cool
above mixture. Add to cooled mixture:
3 cups
flour
2 tsp
cinnamon
1 tsp
cloves
1 tsp
salt
2 tsp
baking soda
2 tsp
nutmeg
1 tsp
allspice
1 cup
chopped nuts
If necessary add more flour to make a stiff batter. Bake at 325◦ for 35 minutes or until done.
